Singapore Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Courses

admin

Participants are obliged to turn on their video cameras during the whole of the online course, revealing their complete faces in real-time with their full names shown until the trainer or speaker has concluded the session. This is in accordance with the rules set out by CEA. Attendance of participants who do not comply with this requirement will not be acknowledged by the CPD course providers, and those participants will not be awarded CPD credits for their attendance.

During audit inspections, CPD course providers are required to supply CEA with pictures or snapshots of participants taking part in online course sessions. These images should clearly show the participants’ faces and should include their complete identities.

If a participant is unable to or refuses to comply with the requirements outlined above, they will not be awarded CPD credits for taking the course, and the course providers are required to tell the participant as soon as possible. Participants in impacted courses may be eligible to receive alternate arrangements from SEAA, if such options are available.

CPD Requirement

Beginning October 1, 2019, the Council for Estate Agencies will begin adopting a new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework.

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses that fall under the Professional Competencies umbrella were formerly known as Core courses. These courses provide salespeople the opportunity to grow and expand their understanding of estate agency work.

As part of the new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework, all salespeople are required to take a CPD course that falls under the Generic Competencies category. This course, which was formerly known as a Non-core course, will help salespeople improve their overall personal development and hone their soft skills. This umbrella term, “Generic Competency,” has a total of 18 subheadings, some of which include “leadership,” “digital literacy,” “communication,” and “creative thinking.”

If you would want additional information about the New CPD Framework, you may find it on the website of the CEA.

In order to satisfy the CPD requirement, you will be expected to participate in CPD classes that fall within the Generic Competencies umbrella. It is not possible to exchange credits earned under the Generic Competencies for credits earned under the Professional Competencies. This is done to ensure that salespeople focus on developing their competencies in other essential areas that are not directly related to their professional knowledge, such as service, leadership, and digital literacy. These are areas that are not directly related to the professional knowledge that salespeople possess.

According to the Estate Agents (Licensing and Registration) Regulations 2010, completing continuing professional development hours is one of the conditions that must be met in order to renew a license or registration. In the event that they do not comply, their registration will be impacted, and they risk being removed from the Public Register.
