Indoor Water Parks: Are They Worth It?
For the sake of this post, let’s explore whether or not water parks, particularly indoor water parks are worth it. Many people have their own opinion and many questions like: Is there a big difference between indoor and outdoor waterparks? Are they clean? Will we get wet? Is it expensive? Am I too old to go on slides? And will my kids like it? Well, let’s answer these questions and more! If you find that indoor waterparks are too pricey or take up a lot of time, then I think outdoor waterparks are perfect for you. The cost of an outdoor waterpark is much less when compared to an indoor one, but you won’t find as many features.
Why We Love Indoor Water Parks
Water parks are one of those family attractions that can only be enjoyed when it’s not hot outside and you can take a break from outdoor activities. One of our favorite water parks near Los Angeles is Great Wolf Lodge, especially if you’re staying at their resort during your visit. This indoor water park features a variety of thrilling water slides and zero-depth entry areas perfect for families with young children and seniors. There’s also an adventure island section with mini-golf, faux polar area, laser tag, miniature bowling, arcade games and more to keep everyone entertained. The sheer density of activities available makes Great Wolf Lodge one of the best destinations for water lovers both close to LA and far away.

What’s the Verdict on the Great Wolf Lodge?
While there are many water parks to choose from in Southern California, one of my favorites is Great Wolf Lodge Garden Grove. Its location makes it easy to visit from Anaheim or Orange County, and the expansive water park allows for plenty of wet and wild fun. The themeing inside the water park delivers a lot of Disney-quality detail, but without feeling like you’re paying $100+ for a one-day ticket at Disneyland.

How many acres is Raging Waters?
At 27 acres, Knott’s Soak City water park at Knott’s Berry Farm is no small water park. The attendance record was set in 2009 with 311,000 visitors! What is the best waterpark in the world?
Knott’s Soak City, by an order of magnitude. When I was 18 and hadn’t yet traveled overseas or to see any US states outside of Texas, I asked my father if he would be able to take me there one day. He looked at me with tears in his eyes and said that he couldn’t because they don’t have it anywhere else but Southern California. It broke my heart a little.

While there are a number of waterparks in and around the San Diego area, most experts agree that Knott’s Soak City, on Beach Blvd. at Knott Ave., is the best waterpark within 60 miles of downtown San Diego. With 25 rides including four kids’ rides, three tube slides and two surf waves with three lanes each, kids can find plenty to do without needing to leave the park for a break.
